The legal secretary supports the legal practices of multiple attorneys, including, but not limited to, preparation/revision of correspondence, pleadings and documents; calendar maintenance; and various office and client filing. The successful candidate is a team player who has a strong desire to provide client service (to internal and external clients), is organized, detail-oriented and skilled at multi-tasking.  

Essential Functions

  • Engage in the work of the attorney by demonstrating knowledge of tasks needed to support current cases and projects, utilizing available resources in order to achieve.
  • Provide support to approximately four attorneys in labor and employment law matters, including litigation.
  • Assist with scheduling depositions; various office, court and client filing and e-filing; and proofreading documents.
  • Communicate with clients, the court, opposing counsel and other external professionals daily.
  • Act as liaison to internal departments and outside agencies.
  • Preparation/revision and filing of correspondence, pleadings, documents and other clerical assignments as directed.
  • Handle a wide variety of complex and confidential time-sensitive material.
  • Collaborate with internal departments for opening new client engagements, docketing, and other functions.
  • Support attorneys with maintaining calendars, CLE, reports and time records.
  • Book and organize travel arrangements including flights, hotels, transportation, make changes to reservations as needed.
  • Collaborate with staff to support general office functions including supplies, inventory, facilities, etc.

Qualifications/Skills Required

  • At least 5 years recent legal secretarial experience within a law firm, including labor & employment litigation, or related.
  • Familiarity with state and federal rules and procedures, including PACER and e-filing.
