Description
The Garza Law Firm’s Law Clerk position is an internship for students attending Law School whose primary function is to act as a support role for all divisions of the Firm. The Law Clerk is responsible to coordinate and assist Paralegals and Attorneys with day-to-day legal tasks in an effort to provide service to our clients and gain hands-on experience in the process.
The Law Clerk does not have the authority to practice law, give legal advice, or set strategy on a per-case/per-client basis.

Responsibilities
- Team Support: Law Clerk provides work assistance to support our Criminal Defense and Personal Injury Teams.
- Prioritization of Tasks: Law Clerk will work directly with those who have assigned a task to prioritize multiple tasks by importance.
- Legal Documents Drafting: Preparing briefs, legal documents, and reports for review by Attorneys and Paralegals.
- Legal Research and Analysis: Conduct legal research to assist Attorneys and Paralegals with information to aid legal strategies and compile case files.
- Perform Basic Courtroom Duties: Assist Attorneys and Paralegals with logistic coordination and legal proceedings (hearing discovery, trials, etc.) as needed.
- Case Documentation: Monitor case documentation via Filevine Tasks to ensure case files are properly maintained and tasks are completed on time.
Work Experience
Required:
- Proficient with Microsoft 365 Suite applications.
- Written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience working in a professional office setting.
- Experience with Filevine and Lead Docket is a plus.
Education / Other Qualifications / Success Traits
Required:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a bachelor’s degree.
- Candidates must be currently pursuing a J.D. at an accredited law school.
