Job Description
The unique CLASP initiative consists of an internship spanning over two summers, where the selected candidates will work for a corporate legal department the first year, and then for a partnering law firm during the second summer. Interns work will include (but not be limited to):
- At the corporation, work assignments will stem from a wide variety of areas within the legal affairs department.
- These assignments include legal research, writing and assisting with transactions.
- Interns are mentored by attorneys and interact with members of Legal Affairs at all levels.
- Work will be evaluated by a supervising attorney.
- The law firm summer associate programs offers challenging assignments, training and mentoring programs, and networking opportunities.
- Our program will give you a realistic view of the firm's practice areas, including what it's like to work on substantive matters for high-caliber clients (which may include, but not be limited to the corporation from year one).
- You will get a feel for our culture of collegiality working alongside talented lawyers who are committed to your professional development, providing mentorship and support to make sure your summer experience is successful.
- Both summers will provide practical on-the-job training, such as writing seminars, mock trials and mock negotiation exercises, to help you build your skillset and sharpen your critical thinking.
Requirements:
- First-year (1L) law student at one of our selected law schools: American University - Washington College of Law, Boston College Law School, Boston University School of Law, Brooklyn Law School, Cardozo Law School (Yeshiva U.), Catholic University - Columbus School of Law, University of Connecticut Law, Drexel University - Thomas R. Kline School of Law, Hofstra UniversityMA Deane School of Law, University of Maryland School of Law, New York Law School, Penn State - Dickinson Law, Penn State - University Park, Rutgers University Law School, Seton Hall Law, St. John's University School of Law, SUNY at Buffalo Law School, Syracuse University School of Law.
- 3.0 GPA minimum
- Cover letter that addresses your interest in the CLASP fellowship and demonstrates your qualification(s) for success in the corporate legal environment, including for example, relevant academic, professional, and personal strengths. Cover letter should be addressed to:
