Choreo is seeking a dynamic and experienced Associate General Counsel (AGC) to lead our day-to-day legal operations in partnership with the General Counsel. This pivotal role will oversee a range of legal functions, focusing primarily on mergers and acquisitions while contributing to various corporate initiatives. The AGC will manage one direct report and collaborate within a dedicated team of five, including compliance professionals.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Draft and review legal contracts related to mergers and acquisitions, non-disclosure agreements, advisory contracts, vendor contracts, employment agreements, corporate governance, real estate contracts and custodian agreements with precision and attention to detail.
- Conduct thorough research on legal issues pertinent to advisory services, Department of Labor regulations, insurance, and other business segments within Choreo.
- Oversee the management and optimization of our contract management system to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Manage firm-wide litigation matters in collaboration with outside counsel, ensuring effective resolution and strategic direction.
- Address legal and compliance challenges within our insurance agency operations, maintaining adherence to industry regulations.
- Collaborate closely with the General Counsel and external legal advisors on various legal matters, ensuring alignment and strategic oversight.
- Travel to various Choreo offices as necessary to provide support and maintain strong relationships across the organization.
Basic Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) and a bachelor’s degree are required.
- Active license to practice law.
- A minimum of 12 years of experience in wealth management or financial services.
- Proficient in technology applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and enterprise CRM systems.
- Exceptional presentation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels through clear, informed, and logical discussions and presentations.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative and approachable style, fostering teamwork and open communication.
- Proven ability to solve complex problems collaboratively and maintain confidentiality.
