POSITION SUMMARY:
The Legal Assistant will work directly with their attorney and litigation paralegal to support ongoing cases. Responsibilities include obtaining medical records, updated bills, and liens; updating information in our case management system; drafting legal documents for attorney review; and communicating with clients and opposing counsel.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Request medical records, bills, and diagnostic CDs.
- Organize medical records and bills for depositions, mediations, and trials.
- Follow up with medical providers and update files accordingly.
- Help continuously update information in the firm’s case management system.
- Assist in drafting documents, pleadings, and discovery for cases.
- Communicate with clients when necessary.
- Assist in scheduling depositions, mediations, and various other case related events.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:
- Full-time, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, M-F.
- High school/GED diploma required.
- Bilingual, fluent in English/Spanish.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Legal experience, including experience with clients, preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Pro or other similar PDF software.
- Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently.
- Manage heavy workload in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and being able to multitask and prioritize workload.
- Teamwork oriented.
