Work Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Provides administrative support for one or more Assistant County Attorneys. Performs complex clerical and para-professional work primarily legal in nature in the administration and operation of the Manatee County Attorney's Office.
*NOTE: This position has been designated by the Manatee County Board of County Commissioners as serving at the will and pleasure of the County Attorney. Employees so designated may be terminated at any time with or without cause.

- Essential Functions:

Provides administrative support to one or more Assistant County Attorneys.
Schedules and coordinates depositions, hearings, witness preparation, and trial dates.
Drafts correspondence.
Maintains case files and pleadings.
Prepares notices of hearing, non-party production, and subpoenas.
Prepares and assembles hearing notebooks with caselaw.
May assist attorney or paralegal at hearings and trials.Maintains attorney calendars and schedules meetings.Drafts correspondence, emails, and memoranda.Prepares drafts of legal instruments such as pleadings, ordinances, legal briefs, agreements, subpoenas, and resolutions.Prepares County-related forms for travel, education, payment of vendors, etc.Maintain various legal databases. - Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Three (3) or more recent and consecutive years of law office experience performing high quality legal duties.- More
Associate’s Degree with legal course work highly desired.
Litigation experience highly desired.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Able to prioritize tasks, deal effectively with competing and changing priorities, and meet deadlines. Accurate, detail-oriented, and organized. Able to resolve situations and problems that may require interpretation or minor adjustments to working methods.
Good working knowledge and understanding of current state and federal court procedures and policies including virtual hearings and mediations.
Good working knowledge and understanding of electronic court filing (e-filing) for both state and federal courts.
Good working knowledge and understanding of legal, medical, and similar scientific terminology often used in legal documents or pleadings.
Good working knowledge and understanding of business English, spelling, proper grammar, and business math.
Good working knowledge and understanding of computer systems and software applications required to perform job duties, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Pro DC, electronic meeting scheduling applications, and legal case management and billing software.
Highly skilled in the use of scanners and scanner software to prepare, organize, and edit pdfs.
Proficient and accurate typing skills.
Good verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills in order to interact professionally and effectively with staff, management, the general public, and other stakeholders.
Able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
Capable of working independently with moderate supervision.
