
Job Description
The primary purpose of this position is to support the Staff Judge Advocate (SJA) as a senior attorney, providing legal advice and counsel for the most complex, often precedential, Direct Reporting Unit-level (MAJCOM and NAF equivalent) issues regarding general law matters to the Air Force District of Washington (AFDW) commander, AFDW headquarters staff, three subordinate wings, the Pentagon, and units located worldwide.
Duties As a senior attorney, advises the Air Force District of Washington (AFDW) Chief of General Law, the SJA (Staff Judge Advocate), the AFDW Commander, AFDW staff, subordinate organizations, Pentagon personnel at the Headquarters Air Force and Secretariat level, and Air Force organizations worldwide on a host of general law matters. For the most complex legal issues impacting all levels of Air Force organizations worldwide, prepares for and represents the AFDW and its legal interests and obligations in correspondence, meetings, negotiations, and judicial and administrative hearings, involving federal, state, and local officials, parties with adverse interests, and commercial entities. Responsible for providing dedicated operational law and emergency management support to the Chief of Operational Law, Chief of General Law, the SJA (Staff Judge Advocate), the AFDW/320 Air Expeditionary Wing (320 AEW) Commander, AFDW/320 AEW staff, and subordinate organizations. Balances the interest of a variety of clients, both internal and external to the organization, the AF, DoD, and outside agencies to achieve mission goals and objectives. Salary- $142,488 - $185,234/year
