Position Summary:
The Senior Counsel will help develop and implement JSSI’s global compliance and ethics program, working closely with other cross functional teams in Human Resources, Sales, Contracts, Finance, Accounting, Client Services, and Underwriting. You will provide compliance advice and counseling relevant to JSSI’s comprehensive business aviation products and services and help to promote an enterprise-wide culture of compliance. You will report directly to the Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement compliance programs, policies, and procedures that align with industry standards and best practices.
- Provide guidance and counseling to colleagues across JSSI on compliance matters, including intellectual property, data governance, foreign corrupt practices act, parts traceability, employment matters, antitrust, export controls, and privacy issues.
- Provide support in mitigating third party partner risk, including those related to clients, vendors, and affiliates.
- Maintain documentation of JSSI compliance policies and procedures to address key compliance risks. Ensure documentation is readily available to JSSI employees.
- Provide and coordinate training to colleagues on compliance matters.
- Monitor, interpret, and advise on changes to relevant laws and regulations impacting JSSI’s industry. Update compliance program in response to a changing legal environment.
- Assist with internal investigations and litigation relating to compliance matters.
- Assist with due diligence and integration processes related to merger and acquisition activities.
Desired Credentials:
- Law Degree from an accredited institution and active bar membership.
- At least seven years of relevant legal experience in-house or at an established law firm.
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Strong executive functioning, including the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in compliance risk assessments and monitoring.
- A proactive approach to improving processes and systems.
