Essential Duties

  • Performs difficult secretarial duties, dictation, typing, clerical duties and related work as required.

  • Assists callers at counter and/or on telephone, directs caller to correct destination.

  • Prepares photocopies of discovery materials, generate discovery letters and keeps log of same.

  • Processes requests for Media Discovery using current computer software and logs same.

  • Creates Invoices and Statements to ensure proper billing for Discovery Materials.

  • As a backup; prepares letters, memoranda and other material relating to specialized fields of work and keeps all information confidential.

  • Prepares subpoenas for service by law enforcement and keeps record of same.   Prepares telephone record subpoenas.

  • Prepares writs and extradition forecasts.

  • Delivers materials to other county agencies and collects materials for the DA's office.

  • Prepares replies to correspondence without dictation in accordance with established procedures.

  • Logs in criminal cases.

  • Performs the functions of a general legal secretary, drawing and typing legal forms for various assigned functions.

  • Filing as needed.

  • Performs any other duties as may be assigned.


Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent.

  • Two or more years’ experience in the District Attorney’s office is preferred.   Promotion is at the discretion of the District Attorney with approval of appropriate committees.

  • Knowledge of business terminology, procedure and equipment.

  • Proficiency in computer software, including word processing, financial programs and other specialized software pertaining to the operations of the office.

  • Understands and effectively carries out oral and written instructions.

  • Knowledge of business math and English.

  • Knowledge of elementary bookkeeping.

  • Ability to abide by office procedures and to keep all information confidential.

Salary
  • $16.58 - $21.45/hour
