Job Description
We are seeking a Counsel/Attorney to join the dynamic and collaborative in-house Legal Department. In this high-profile, hands-on role you will report to the Chief IP Counsel, Corporate Law and will be responsible for providing counsel to client groups on a wide variety of Intellectual Property matters.

Salary Range: $166,000 to $203,500/yr. This base salary range is a good faith estimate. Based on candidate skills/experience the final offer may be lower/higher.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide advice and counseling to clients on a wide array of Intellectual Property issues relating to the protection and registration of the company’s patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets, and help set the strategic direction of the company’s IP portfolio.
- Develop optimal filing and prosecution strategies to protect the company’s innovations and prepare and prosecute patent applications and perform freedom to operate, invalidity and patentability studies and opinions in the metallurgical and mechanical arts.
- Prepare and prosecute trademark applications and perform trademark clearance studies
- Draft and negotiate IP and general commercial/procurement contracts.
- Assist the Chief IP Counsel in managing the company’s IP portfolio and assist in managing domestic and international outside counsel.
- Assist in the IP related aspects of corporate transactions and other strategic corporate projects
- Maintain a corporate culture with a high degree of emphasis on dignity, respect, and inclusion.
- Coordinate with clients, in-house and outside counsel, consultants, and others as needed on specific patent, trademark, corporate communications and commercia issues.
- Carry out other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Juris Doctor and licensed to practice law in at least one state and in good standing is required.
- At least five to ten years of IP experience, including experience in drafting and negotiating IP and general commercial/procurement contracts.
- Registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office is required.
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in materials, metallurgical, mechanical, or chemical related arts is required.
- Experience prosecuting metallurgical related patent applications is preferred.
- Experience with international patent practices is preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/ PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- This position may be fully remote. Occasional travel required.
