This position offers a competitive base pay and is eligible for the Company variable pay (bonus) plan.  Benefits start first day and include insurance, paid time off, and various customer discount programs. 

 

The Doe Run Company is seeking a Corporate Legal Assistant to provide legal department matters management and administrative support that is dedicated, highly organized, and detail-oriented and can perform a variety of tasks to support our legal team. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced corporate environment. You will play a key role in maintaining corporate records, assisting with transactions, and ensuring the smooth operation of the legal department. This is a hybrid position (after initial training) based out of our Corporate Office in St. Louis, MO.

 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain and organize legal department files and case management database. Assist with tracking and reporting on legal statuses, documents filed, and garnishments. Proofread and format legal and real estate documents ensuring that all materials are accurate and meet legal standards. Assist with document collections, drafting, and tracking of legal hold notices and record review\coding.
  • Perform research and gather relevant information on cases.
  • Provide assistance in the preparation, tracking, and organization of board minutes and resolutions.
  • Track, process, and report on department payables, and expenditures, and update budget forecasts.
  • Provide administrative support including scanning of records, monitoring, and filing or routing mail based on urgency and priority, scheduling meetings, and maintaining the legal department calendar and docket. Assist with company record retention program.
  • Complete tasks in a safe and environmentally compliant manner by following EHS (environmental, health, and safety) policies, procedures, and best practices; support and assist peers in working in a safe, compliant manner; report unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and provide feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Education & Experience: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Associate’s degree in relevant field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of legal assistant experience.
  • Experience in budget administration preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

  • Proficient with software programs including Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Access, Excel (must be able to create spreadsheets, formulas, and validate data).

  • Proficient with Adobe Acrobat.
  • Basic knowledge of billing software or ERP (PeopleSoft).
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy of work.
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage deadlines to result in timely work completion.
  • Paralegal certification preferred.

Environmental Conditions, Physical & Lifting Requirements: 

  • Regularly required to use a computer and phone.
  • General office environment, but occasionally requires working in confined spaces and wet, humid conditions (non-weather). Rarely requires working in extreme cold (non-weather).
  • Regularly requires sitting, hearing, feeling attributes of objects, grasping, and repetitive movement. Frequently requires talking. Occasionally requires reaching with hands/arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Rarely requires pushing, standing, walking, driving, climbing or balancing, moving up and down from/to a sitting position on the floor. Requires clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and the ability to read and write.
  • Frequently required to lift up to 5 pounds. Occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds. Rarely required to lift up to 75 pounds.
