Fenwick’s Washington, D.C. office is seeking a Counsel to join its Trade & National Security practice. Candidates must have a minimum of eight (8) years of directly relevant experience. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in trade and economic sanctions and U.S. export controls, including EAR and ITAR, OFAC, trade policy and national security issues, including compliance counseling, product classifications, license applications, rulemaking advocacy, internal investigations and government enforcement proceedings, and CFIUS filings. Superior academic credentials and excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills are required. Experience with, or affinity for, technology and/or life sciences companies is a positive. Government experience or in-house work is a plus, but not required. The practice is fast-paced, working with cutting-edge technologies, company founders, and senior government officials day-to-day; strong skills in leadership, project-management, client relationships, and intellectual curiosity are essential.

The anticipated range for this position is:
$375,000 - 435,000 USDDepending on the role, the actual base salary offered may depend upon a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
A discretionary bonus for eligible employees may also be available based on performance. Additional information about employee eligibility for benefits and discretionary bonus will be made available upon request.
