Job Description

BODi is on a mission to build the Health Esteem Category! Having just launched a new brand (from Beachbody to BODi), a new platform, and a new app where fitness and nutrition is supported by positive mindset content, BODi breaks from the fitness and diet industry and ushers in the era of Health Esteem. Health Esteem specifically rejects the legacy fitness and diet industry playbook of pursuing a healthy lifestyle based on self-criticism – a playbook Beachbody used to abide by. But after observing the uptick in mental health challenges since the pandemic and seeing that 74% of Americans remain overweight or obese today, despite the efforts of the fitness industry, BODi had to make a change.

We are seeking a seasoned Vice President, Legal – Regulatory & Marketing with deep expertise in regulatory and marketing law to support our direct-to-consumer (DTC) and retail business lines. This role requires a pragmatic, business-aligned lawyer who can step in on day one, quickly integrate with stakeholders, and provide both strategic guidance and practical solutions.

You will partner closely with leadership across marketing, product development, R&D, and retail expansion to ensure compliant and business-aligned growth in highly regulated markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Counsel: Advise on FDA, FTC, DSHEA, state consumer protection, and global regulatory frameworks governing nutrition products, supplements, and labeling.

  • Marketing & Advertising: Review and approve advertising claims, influencer content, promotional materials, and consumer-facing disclosures.

  • Commercial Contracting: Draft, negotiate, and manage contracts with suppliers, co-manufacturers, retailers, and marketing agencies.

  • Retail & DTC Growth: Support retail channel expansion and direct-to-consumer initiatives, balancing speed-to-market with compliance.

  • Risk Management: Identify, communicate, and mitigate regulatory and litigation risks, presenting practical options aligned with business objectives.

  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Act as a trusted solution-oriented partner to business leaders, enabling informed decision-making without slowing execution.

  • Leadership: Mentor and partner with other attorneys and business teams, fostering a strong in-house culture of curiosity, collaboration, and accountability.

Qualifications

  • JD from an accredited U.S. law school; admitted and in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.

  • 10+ years of combined law firm and in-house experience, with significant time in-house at a consumer, nutrition, food/beverage/supplement company.

  • Expertise in FDA/FTC regulatory matters, product labeling, supplement and nutrition claims, and consumer advertising law.

  • Proven experience supporting DTC and retail business models.

  • Generalist fluency in commercial contracts, marketing, and corporate governance.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and deliver crisp, business-savvy advice in fast-moving environments.

  • A curious, pragmatic solutioner who thrives in collaborative, cross-functional settings.

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to shape legal strategy at the intersection of health, fitness, and consumer products.

  • A remote-first culture with colleagues across the U.S.

  • Direct visibility with senior executives and the board.

  • A mission-driven environment, focused on transforming consumer health and wellness.
