- Work Schedule – This role is expected to start at the beginning of summer 2025. This is a full-time (40 hours per week) internship position in the summer with the ability to extend to part-time hours during the school year. Normal work hours will be scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 8\:00 a.m. – 5\:00 p.m.
- Work Environment – You will generally work in an office environment, with Port of Seattle Headquarters at Pier 69 in downtown Seattle as your primary work location.
- Limited Duration – This is a limited duration position and is expected to last no longer than one year.
- Safety Requirements – You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
This is a full-time summer internship position with the ability to extend to part-time hours during the school year. The legal intern will support the Port’s Legal Department on a wide array of legal projects and tasks.
Some of your essential duties include:
- Carry out legal research projects, draft legal memoranda, assist in document production for litigation or public disclosure, attend meetings and hearings with attorneys, perform other assistance as necessary, and carry out legislative history research.
- If the intern is available and the Port deems it desirable, the internship may be extended through the intern’s third law school year, with the expected work at 12-20 hours per week.
- A Student - You must be currently enrolled and have completed (or nearing) the conclusion of your second year of studies in an accredited law school.

- Critical Thinker - You understand and know how to carry out legal research for state and federal issues in a proficient manner.

- Desired - We hope you have knowledge and interest in port/maritime/aviation industry, municipal law, property law, and environmental law preferred but not required.
