Position Summary
The Legal Support Specialist will assist attorneys in the Litigation Department for a multi-national law firm.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Processes legal documents on behalf of supported attorneys
- Creates and edits briefs, pleadings and other legal documents as necessary such as formatting and preparing tables of contents and tables of authorities
- Responsible for filing documents with courts and administrative agencies
- Uses Microsoft Outlook to calendar appointments, handle a litigation calendar, and manage attorney schedules
- Makes travel arrangements as necessary
- Uses written and verbal communication skills on a daily basis during attorney, client and co-worker interactions
- Manages the phone lines for supported attorneys, fielding calls and conveying messages as necessary
- Works with attorney as needed on monthly bills
- Processes attorney expense reimbursements and vendor invoices using the Firm’s reimbursement software system
- Manages files, opens new matters as requested by attorneys and maintains all relevant document inclusions for the files, both electronically and manually, as necessary

- The candidate must be a self-starter but also a team player, and work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines
- The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented and able to learn new technology quickly
- Candidate must demonstrate professionalism, excellent communication skills and attention to detail
- Candidate must have excellent customer service skills, a positive attitude and the ability to multi-task
- The ideal candidate will have the ability to work on multiple matters simultaneously in an organized manner under minimal supervision while adhering to strict deadlines
Qualification & Prior Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is preferred
- The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably in a large law firm setting
- Litigation experience required
- Ability to work independently and within a team required
