Counsel, Professional Liability and Claims - Morristown NJ

Responsible for overseeing the claims function, ensuring the timely and proper disposition of all claims made against corporation, licensed professionals and other employees from the identification of a claim through the resolution of the claim.


Principal Accountabilities:

1. Reviews new claims with in-house counsel regarding liability and management plan. 
2. Engages in arbitration and mediation and supports defense counsel in case resolution.
3. Reviews quarterly defense counsel litigation reports and assists in strategic defense of the case. 
4. Possesses the overall trial responsibility, including coordination of witness/defendant appearances.
5. Plans and prepares claim related committee meetings. 
6. Performs regulatory reporting requirements associated with claims settlements. 
7. Oversees claims strategy of in-house counsel claims management.
8. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Experience/Education
•    Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited School of Law; and admission to New Jersey State Bar Required
•    5 years claims handling experience preferred
