This role will be based in our New York City office, on an in-office basis. Regular in-office presence is required for day-to-day operations, as well as for team meetings, training opportunities, and relationship building.
Position Summary
The Junior Paralegal will provide organizational and practice specific assistance to attorneys and paralegals in the Litigation Department, primarily in the area of pre-trial discovery and trial preparation. The junior paralegal will also assist in a variety of administrative tasks. The ability to take ownership of projects, strong organization skills and attention to detail are essential. This candidate must be able to multi-task and prioritize as well as have a strong client service orientation. This role requires working collaboratively in a team environment as well as working independently.
Key Responsibilities
Prepares document productions.
Proofreads briefs and other legal documents.
Drafts routine correspondence/memorandum and discovery requests/responses.
Maintains case and document databases, updates files.
Basic document review and light on-line, legal research.
Supports trial preparation efforts including creating trial notebooks, identifying and organizing exhibits, working with witness schedules, maintaining trial calendars.
Conducts review of parties' discovery including preparation of subpoenas and related motions.
Factual research and development, utilizing electronic research tools and in some cases working with vendors.
Assists with practice department activities/project work assignments as needed, and performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education & Prior Experience
Bachelor’s Degree required, Certificate in Paralegal studies from an accredited institution preferred; equivalent experience considered.
Certified Paralegal a plus
Working knowledge or experience in a law firm or legal environment is helpful
Technology
Proficiency with Windows-based software and Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
E-filing, legal research, and litigation support applications such as Relativity, Live Note, Lexis and Westlaw preferred.
The expected pay range for this position is:
$36.44 to $39.30 per hour
Salary will be determined based upon education, experience, job related factors permitted by law, internal equity, and market data, including geographic pay differentials in locations where market pay differs from the national average.
