Job Description

What's the role?

HERE is looking for an experienced attorney to join our global legal team based out of our Downtown Chicago office. This role is part of a collegial team dedicated to supporting HERE’s global operations. In addition to knowledge about US employment law, this attorney should have experience or interest in expanding their repertoire to include that of Latin American countries as well.


We believe those who enjoy working in a multi-cultural environment in both a collaborative and independent manner will thrive in this position. Our lawyers give practical legal advice and are considered part of the business teams they support.

 

Responsibilities

The Sr Labor and Employment Attorney will:

  • Draft and maintain labor-related template agreements
  • Undertake compliance reviews of employment-related policies and workplace handbooks
  • Be an active and contributing member of the Ethics & Compliance Committee
  • Interact with/direct outside counsel and manage outside counsel spend

 

The Sr Labor & Employment Attorney partners with the Americas Region (US, Canada, LATAM) Human Resources teams and provides guidance on matters including but not limited to:

  • Employment contracts (such as settlement agreements)
  • Employee issues and disputes
  • Employer obligations (including compliance with applicable employment regulations)
  • Workplace investigations
  • Reorganizations


 

Who are you?

Required Education & Experience :

  • Degree of Juris Doctor or equivalent
  • License to practice law in a United States jurisdiction and ability to produce Certificate of Admission/Good Standing to the Roll of Attorneys Licensed to Practice Law upon request (State of IL preferred but not required)
  • 7+ years of experience practicing Labor/Employment law either in house or in a law firm setting
  • Able to draft and communicate verbally in English

 

Extra consideration will be given to candidates with the following qualifications:

  • LATAM experience highly preferred/ Background in the technology industry is a plus
  • Able to draft and communicate verbally in Spanish and/or Portuguese
  • Experience as part of a globally distributed team
