About the Role:

The Paralegal Manager provides exemplary leadership, communication, organizational and strategic skillsets to their team. They possess and inspire a passion for promoting a positive, productive culture that furthers The Husband & Wife’s Law Team’s Core Values, Purpose, and Mission with their team through employee development and coaching.

What You’ll Do

  • Oversee our team of paralegals and assist with assigning projects, organizing, and prioritizing tasks, caseload, and workflow, and advise on conflict resolution, as needed
  • Monitor the management of individual workload through audits, deadline- driven reports, and other internal measurements.
  • Embody and lead with the core values daily and align them to all aspects of the business from the customer experience, client happiness, and efficiency of systems and process. 
  • Conduct weekly 1:1 with Paralegal team members: 
    1. Review Key Performance Indicators, employee growth and development
  • Assist in personnel decisions, such as hiring, termination, salary, reviews, and promotions as they relate to subordinate paralegals
  • Act as a liaison between attorneys and paralegals, ensuring projects are completed accurately and timely and resolve conflicts as needed
  • Work with the paralegal team to provide support in response to inquiries to Legal managed email inboxes concerning legal questions or escalations from our intake |support team and other internal teams. 
  • Thought partner and leader in companywide strategic initiatives. Champion a culture of high performance, innovation, accountability, and daily excellence to team members. 
  • Support the business needs with talent management, workforce and succession planning, performance planning in partnership with People Team
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, training to Paralegals and implement tracking of ongoing education
  • Confirm Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits are being tracked and recommend additional classes if needed
  • Collaborate with legal team members to improve processes, provide training, and ensure business needs are met
  • Other duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • Paralegal certificate or other relevant legal education is preferred.
  • Experience with Cloud-Based Legal Practice Management Software such as Clio, FileVine, DOMO, LawBoards and Litify.  
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, collegial attitude, and desire to work on a highly collaborative team. 
  • A curious, critical thinker, with excellent judgment and creative problem-solving ability
  • Passionate about inventing or improving good processes to scale legal operations.
  • High level of comfort with technology and Internet services
  • Fluency with Google drive, docs, sheets, and related suite of products
  • Enthusiasm, flexibility, and a great sense of humor

Things You’ve Done in the Past

  • 5+ years of paralegal work or equivalent experience, with at least some experience in a company setting. 
  • Demonstrated organizational and project management skills, including the ability to multitask and manage competing demands.
  • Experience supporting litigation and/or regulatory response within a law firm or in-house legal department.
  • This is a fulltime leadership position. The position may require extended work hours at times depending on scope of work.
