Job Overview:
The ideal candidate will manage, prepare, and file patent documents with the USPTO, work closely with our docketing team and attorneys, and provide top-notch support to our clients.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and update files, including file openings, applications, responses, and filings with the USPTO.
  • Prepare and maintain IDS submissions.
  • Obtain file histories, document translations, and non-patent prior art.
  • Manage patent prosecution dockets, track docket dates, and prioritize tasks.
  • Prepare declarations, power of attorney forms, and foreign filing instructions.
  • Communicate professionally with the USPTO, clients, and foreign associates.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients while handling confidential information.
 
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. patent rules and procedures; familiarity with PCT and international patent laws is a plus.
  • Proven experience with completing and e-filing U.S. patent prosecution documents with the USPTO.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to draft/edit documents accurately and quickly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Visio, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong client service orientation and ability to work independently or within a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
 
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree, associate’s degree in paralegal studies, or a high school diploma with a paralegal certificate.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in U.S. patent process and prosecution.
 
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
