
We are seeking a talented individual to join our Legal, Compliance, & Public Affairs team at Marsh McLennan. This role can be based in Boston or St. Louis, and it is a hybrid role with a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
As an Alternatives Investments Senior Paralegal, you will play a pivotal role in a dynamic team of legal professionals dedicated to supporting Mercer’s global Alternatives Investments practice. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team that coordinates all aspects of the transactional process for our private markets fund-of-funds’ investments, including primary investments, secondaries, and co-investments. We will count on you to:
- Track and manage workflow across multiple fund transactions – from the point of deal initiation through closing – involving coordination across multiple functional teams, as well as external counsel
- Assist the legal team in all aspects of the transactions, including review and negotiation of documentation, completion of subscription documents, preparation of internal reports and presentations to investment committees, closing and execution
- Provide support and advice on corporate actions and most-favored-nations elections from fund investments
- Work closely with Mercer’s external legal counsel in relation to the above, where appropriate, to include managing timely delivery of projects and advice within agreed scope and budget
- Support the wider Legal & Compliance team on general matters affecting the Alternatives Investments practice
What you need to have:
- 5+ years of paralegal or other corporate/transactional experience, either at a law firm, or combined at a law firm and in-house at a financial services firm supporting transactional work
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills
- Project management skills and ability to collaborate across teams
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic setting, with a high volume of transactions, managing multiple tasks and deadlines at any given time.
- Proficiency in the MS Office suite
