Job Title: Litigation Paralegal/Med Mal Paralegal
Location: Atlanta, GA
About Us:
Our client, a reputable and well established Personal Injury firm based out of Macon, GA, is growing and have seen a significant uptick in serious injury (med mal cases) and are in need to bring in additional support to help with their growth. They are dedicated to providing exceptional legal services to our clients and are seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join their team. The caseload focuses on complex injury cases, including medical malpractice, and requires someone who can take ownership of a significant caseload, provide high-level customer service, and work effectively as the Attorney's right-hand person.
Responsibilities:
- Take intake calls for Medical Malpractice cases and provide initial assistance and information to potential clients.
- Respond to and answer discovery requests, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
- Prepare medical chronologies, case write-ups, and summaries to organize case information.
- File documents with the court and maintain organized and up-to-date client files.
- Manage calendars and docketing, scheduling appointments, court appearances, and deadlines.
- Draft pleadings, complaints, and other legal documents as needed.
- Assist with trial and deposition preparation, including organizing exhibits and coordinating witness appearances.
- Work on liens and coordinate with lien holders as necessary.
- Prepare and send notice letters to insurers and other relevant parties.
- Provide regular case updates, including updates on liens, to clients and attorneys.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2-6 of experience as a litigation paralegal or legal assistant, with a focus on personal injury law.
- Experience in handling complex injury cases, including catastrophic injury and medical malpractice.
- Strong ability to read and understand medical records and terminology.
- Proficiency in case management software; experience with CasePeer is preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, attorneys, and other staff members.
- Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of assigned tasks and responsibilities.
- Self-starter with the ability to manage a caseload from start to finish.
- Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program is preferred.
