Adult Representation Services (ARS) is seeking a Paralegal and Investigator Supervisor to oversee the supervision of the department’s paralegal and investigator staff. This position will provide direct supervision to staff, as well as manage workflow. This position will liaison with other supervisors, attorneys, and managers in the department. This position requires knowledge, experience, judgment, and the ability to coordinate legal services.
ARS provides high-quality, equitable representation to clients experiencing poverty in certain civil matters where appointment of counsel is necessary to protect a fundamental right or to further the county’s mission of reducing disparities and promoting the stability of residents. Our holistic legal team includes attorneys, investigators, paralegals, and social service experts.
Location and hours:
This position will be onsite at the Health Services Building at 525 Portland Avenue South, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55415. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
About the position:
This is a full time, benefit earning position. You must be a current regular or probationary employee of the Adult Representation Services department to apply for this position. Limited duration employees are not eligible.

In this position, you will:- Supervise the paralegal and investigator work units in ARS, including but not limited to reviewing work, ensuring consistency with departmental procedures, determining priorities and schedules, managing workloads and the assignment of work responsibilities, and training and evaluating performance of paralegals and investigators.
- Serve as a liaison between other supervisors, ARS staff, and managers with respect to the paralegal and investigator work units.
- Identify and evaluate work unit procedures to develop processes that improve services and legal representation to clients.
- Assist in collecting, preparing and analyzing case data, create process documents for paralegal and investigator work units, and provide correspondence to teams regarding expectations, work assignment, and departmental changes.
- Provide specialized training and communication to the department regarding paralegal and investigator work units as needed.
- Provide leadership to further department-based strategies that align with county goals, mission and core values for diversity, equity & inclusion.
- Five years or more of administrative clerical support experience in a legal environment including two years or more of supervisor or lead worker experience.
