About the Role

We are seeking an estate planning paralegal to support our estate planning and estate administration practices. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of experience in North Carolina estate law, technical skills (Clio preferred), and the ability to take ownership of cases.  Project oriented leadership experience is a plus, but we are open to training the right candidate with a strong desire to grow.

Key Responsibilities

Estate Planning Paralegal:

  • Project Management: Oversee and manage estate planning projects from intake to execution, ensuring all steps are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Draft & Prepare Documents – Wills, trusts, POAs, healthcare directives.
  • Client Intake & Communication – Gather information, maintain contact.
  • Funding & Asset Transfers – Assist with trust funding, beneficiary updates.
  • Execution & Notarization – Coordinate signings, ensure compliance.

Estate Administration Paralegal:

  • Probate & Court Filings – File petitions, inventories, accountings.
  • Asset Identification & Distribution – Locate, value, and transfer assets.
  • Creditor Claims & Estate Debts – Manage notifications and settlements.
  • Estate Tax & Accounting Assistance – Support tax prep and financial tracking.


Requirements

What We’re Looking For:

  • 3+ years of estate planning or administration experience (NC-specific preferred).
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to take ownership of tasks and drive them to completion.
  • Project-oriented mindset with the ability to organize, prioritize, and execute estate planning matters efficiently.
  • Attention to detail, excellent written communication skills, and a client-centered approach.
  • Proficiency in MicroSoft Office (Outlook, Work & Excel) and a legal software program (Clio or similar).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases.
  • Desire to grow into a leadership role (if less experienced).
