As part of our ongoing growth, we are seeking a talented Mid-Level Associate Attorney with a strong background in general municipal law to join our dynamic team.


Position Overview: 

We are seeking a Mid-Level Associate Attorney with 4+ years of experience in general municipal law. The ideal candidate will have experience advising public agencies on various legal matters, including municipal governance, public contracts, open meeting laws, and regulatory compliance. This position provides an exciting opportunity for an attorney to work on a wide range of municipal legal issues while serving a diverse roster of clients.


Responsibilities:

  • Advise and counsel public agencies and municipalities on a broad spectrum of legal issues, including local government law, public contracts, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide legal guidance on municipal governance matters, including open meeting laws (e.g., Brown Act), public records laws, and ethics regulations.
  • Assist with the drafting and negotiation of contracts, ordinances, and resolutions for public agencies.
  • Represent clients in administrative hearings, city council meetings, and other municipal proceedings.
  • Advise on issues related to municipal finance, including tax assessment, revenue generation, and bond issuance.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of municipal policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Represent public agency clients in litigation related to municipal governance, zoning, and other regulatory matters.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients to develop practical legal solutions for municipal issues.
  • Mentor junior associates and support staff while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.\

Requirements

 Qualifications:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • 4-7 years of experience in general municipal law, including public contracts, local governance, public finance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong  knowledge of state and federal laws affecting municipalities, including the Brown Act, Public Records Act, and related legal frameworks.
  • Experience advising public agencies, drafting ordinances, and representing clients in administrative hearings or municipal meetings.
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with clients, colleagues, and government officials.
  • Admitted to practice in California.  
Salary Description
140,000-175,000 (DOE)
