The Legal Assistant is responsible for assisting with the initiatives of the Legal Department at DAVIS.
Essential Duties + Responsibilities
Perform responsibilities with trust, excellence in service, integrity, inclusion and building relationships as exemplified in DAVIS core values
Organize and maintain file repositories for contracts, claims, and research issues
Assist with document collection, review and production in connection with arbitration, litigation or other resolution of claims, as well as preparation of demonstrative exhibits and exhibit books
Research and analyze developments in the law that impact areas of concern for DAVIS, and prepare and/or assist in the preparation of memoranda and related documents concerning same
Assist with preparation and presentation of legal department course content in support of education initiatives
Assist in Legal Department budget tracking
Track corporate licensing / permitting requirements and assist in filing applications for new and renewal licenses
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal “clients” and with others encountered in the course of work, including outside counsel and consultants, and representatives of contracting parties
Coordinate with other corporate departments (in particular, Operations, Information Technology, Accounting, Human Resources) to obtain information for legal compliance initiatives and to assist with legal support efforts
Communicate with external parties to obtain information – e.g., contacting court clerks for docket information, local boards for licensing information, recorder of deeds for lien information, etc.
Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Experience + Special Skills
*Required
Bachelor’s degree or Associate degree in paralegal studies*
At least two (2) years of previous experience providing legal support services at a law firm or corporate legal department, or comparable experience
Understand principles and practices of legal research and legal terminology
Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality*
Decision making, research and analytical problem solving skills*
Time management with the ability to organize, assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands, and to work independently*
Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, and interact effectively at all levels within the organization*
MS Office – Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook experience*
Familiarity with legal research databases (e.g., Westlaw, Lexis)
PHYSICAL JOB DEMANDS

Reaching above and below, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and bending. The employee must occasionally lift / carry / move up to 25 pounds. Manual dexterity to operate office equipment, file, and perform specialized skills. Needs a high degree of concentration in a busy office environment.

The base salary (or hourly) range for this position is
