About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Installation Management Command, Installation Legal Office at Fort Carson, CO. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized if determined to be in the best interests of the Government. If you are currently serving in a permanent, competitive service appointment in the Federal service, and are selected for this position, the appointment will remove you from the competitive service while you occupy this position.
Duties- Primary duty is to serve as the Environmental Law Attorney for Fort Carson, Rocky Mountain Arsenal (RMA), and other Army organizations supported by Fort Carson.
- Provides legal advice on projects and proposed actions with a potential environmental impact for compliance with the National Environmental Protection Act, National Historic Preservation Act, the Endangered Species Act, and other laws.
- Ensures appropriate policy development and legal direction of negotiations with federal Environmental Protection Agency officials, state environmental agencies, and local governments regarding environmental problems.
- Provides legal advice on the requirements for compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental laws, regulations, and directives.
- Represents the Army in formal hearings before arbitrators, investigators, and administrative judges from various agencies as needed.
- Secondary duties (as needed) involve providing legal advice on Government Procurement law, Fiscal law, Labor and Employment law, and Administrative law.
