
Job Summary & Objectives
The Resource Center Paralegal is responsible for specifically delegated substantive legal administrative and document-related tasks for which attorneys are responsible. This role provides a full range of support to attorneys Firm-wide with case management, documents, indexing, filing and other applications necessary to assist attorneys in executing these functions so they may focus on client services.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Resource Center Manager, coordinate work with department members and collaborate with other administrative departments to support attorneys with day-to-day stages of case management
Create and revise legal documents to the Firm’s specifications using the Firm’s latest software and MS Office tools
Perform research using electronic research tools and other legal reference materials
Organize and coordinate documents including but not limited to closing and pre-closing assistance (e-binders, signature packet prep, indexing); cross-referencing and page checks; research (internet research, SEC searches); proofreading; definitions checks
Maintain databases in accordance with requirements, assuring the ongoing ability to access, edit, research, and accurately report data as required
Maintain an accurate diary log of all work performed
Scan documents, convert documents from Word or jpeg to PDF, split mail merge documents, create closing sets. Prepare document comparisons (Litera/redlines)
Coordinate document printing and courier deliveries (FedEx, UPS); and will perform internal or hand deliveries when required, including collateral to other firms
Run machine translations
Combine side letters and other documents in Word and PDF
Perform notary duties
Provide front desk coverage when required to convey information to requestors and/or direct callers to the appropriate services or resources and to coordinate work requests with team members
Work overtime or flexible schedule as required to meet deadlines and provide department coverage
Perform other duties as assigned
Education
Bachelor’s degree
Notary certification (must complete within three months of hire)
Preferred
Paralegal experience

Ability to clearly present information verbally and in writing

Strong telephone etiquette and customer service abilities
Ability to communicate in a clear and professional manner
Ability to proofread documents for quality and accuracy
Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to teamwork, collaboration, and professionalism
Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite
Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
Strong attention to detail with an emphasis on quality and accuracy
Commitment to providing excellent work product
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Commitment to discretion when working with sensitive and confidential information
Ability to effectively prioritize, plan work activities and meet competing deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Client focused with the ability to quickly develop organizational astuteness and produce work within the attorneys’ and clients’ parameters and in support of the Firm’s guidelines and corporate branding
Preferred
Knowledge of Adobe products, iManage, and Litera
2-4 years of relevant experience in a center-based environment
Salary Information
NY Only: The estimated base salary range for this position is $60,000 to $70,000 at the time of posting.
The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. This role is non-exempt meaning it is overtime pay eligible.
