Hiring Range: $22.05 - $33.07

Salary ranges are the entire compensation range for the position classification and reflect the anticipated FY2026 grade range.

The hiring range is an estimate of the compensation amount for the selected candidate. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, and /or training.



Provides a wide variety of clerical duties in support of the operations and services of the City Court; work includes processing photo enforcement traffic charges; processing case information which involves case filing, demand batch and work queue, setting hearings and docketing and generating reports; considerable public contact answering phone calls; reporting accurate case file information to the public and defendants; and supporting judicial and administrative personnel.

Essential Functions

Imports photo enforcement citations into the case management system. 

Prepares and processes cases such as civil traffic photo enforcement violations, affidavits of service, and other civil traffic matters in compliance with legal requirements and procedures.

Processes default judgment cases and issues Notice of Pending Default letters and generates monthly reports, OLCP and FARE reports, and prepares end-of-day deposits for pickup.

Assists judges, attorneys, and defendants in the courtroom with motions, payment orders, and orders to show cause; prepare hearing notices and continuances, and sentencing documents for the court record and assists with the purging of court records.

Performs file management functions including alphabetical and numerical case filing, tracking case files, matching documents to case files, and researching record requests.

Maintains proper records and control of charges filed in court cases and the disposition of each charge. Verifies monthly photo enforcement reports, including monthly financial photo enforcement reports.

Reviews court case files for accuracy and completeness; determines next appropriate action and forwards files for proper handling. Monitors cases for compliance with court orders including payment orders, defensive driving school attendance and reconciliations, and community restitution.

Audits and verifies court-specific software data against case files for discrepancies and takes corrective action.

Records case information in the case management system and courtroom technology, noting any court action on various documents; processing all photo enforcement coupon options mailed, emailed, or faxed.

Provides quality customer service and information to those whom the court serves, both internally and externally.

Reports convictions to other agencies (i.e., Department of Public Safety and Motor Vehicle Department).

Performs Court Clerk I & II functions on an as-needed basis and other work duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and technical training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, may qualify.

A minimum of one (1) year of court clerk experience and one (1) year of customer service experience is required.

Valid Arizona Operator's Driver's License or the ability to obtain one by the time of hire.

Administrative Supreme Court Order: obtain 16 CO-JET credits annually.

Must be able to successfully pass a comprehensive background check and a psychological examination.

Supplemental Information

Work requires the ability to read procedures, reports, and correspondence.

Work requires the ability to perform general math calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Work requires the ability to write correspondence and others.

Applies knowledge of team behavior to help achieve organizational goals and objectives.

The incumbents in this position contact others within the organization and must establish and maintain effective working relationships with City management and employees.  These contacts may involve similar work units or departments within the City such as the Police Department and the Finance Department which may be involved in decision-making, providing approval or decision-making authority for purchases or projects.  

In addition, these incumbents work with individuals outside the City who may belong to professional or peer organizations.   Working with various state and federal agencies may also be required of the employee.  Vendors and suppliers may also be called upon for information on purchases, supplies, or products.  Meetings and discussions may be conducted with customers, brokers, and sales representatives.  

Employees must maintain regular attendance. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
