Description

The Legal Intern is a paid position and will work in collaboration with the Compliance Counsel to assist, support, and sustain transactional support, contract management, and administration of SPR’s Legal function within the Compliance department. The individual will also be responsible for, in part, assisting with legal research, improving existing procedures, and compliance monitoring of relevant topics. 


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supporting contract drafting review and organization of commercial contracts and agreements
  • Reviewing contracts for adherence to policies and procedures
  • Editing previously developed contracts and key contract terms according to new information or advice
  • Developing, supporting and sustaining contract lifecycle management, as well as the identification of other key contract terms
  • Researching and summarizing legal issues on an as-needed basis
  • Assisting and supporting contract negotiation management, as well as the recognition of issues to drive positive resolution of contractual issues or disputes when required
  • Assisting with the development of processes and procedures to improve contract compliance, as well as the vetting of potential legal technologies
  • Assisting with the execution and docketing of contracts

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • May assist in the monitoring of key legal topics to ensure adherence to internal processes and procedures
  • May assist in other legal and compliance related projects and duties as assigned
Requirements

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Enrolled in a J.D. or related compliance or legal Master’s degree program.
  • Experience in the health care, pharmaceutical, medical device industry a plus
  • Familiarity with transactional legal writing and/or contract management
  • Familiarity with applicable state and federal laws and regulations with the medical device industry
  • Independent, critical thinker, with good judgment and problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate and balance a large number of requests in an organized and timely manner
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Power Point

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This position resides in the Cleveland SPR office location.
