Job Description

Introduction

Do you have strong legal administrative experience, positive attitude and a great work ethic?  If so, join a dynamic local government law office. The County Attorney's Office seeks a full-time Administrative Specialist to support the Workers Compensation, General Liability, Employment Law and Administrative Teams involving a variety of tasks related to assigned local government law matters.

The successful candidate will represent the County Attorney’s Office while working under the supervision of their Administrative Coordinator and other assigned Team Attorneys.  

This position will assist in creating and maintaining electronic files for the assigned Teams using several databases, working collectively in a team environment, assisting with administrative support for the office, preparing and tracking form medical records requests, assisting with the preparation of legal documents such as subpoenas, discovery requests and legal pleadings, providing daily assistance to the Administrative Team with assigned office telephone coverage, primary responsibility for the front desk welcoming duties, and administrative tasks. ABOUT THIS ROLE

This position is dedicated to performing specialized office and administrative support functions requiring knowledge of assigned work areas. 

KNOWLEDGE

Facets of legal collections work, Customer service principles; Principals and practices in assigned area, Departmental functions, Policies and procedures; Applicable Federal, State and local laws, rules, regulations, codes, and or statutes; Modern office equipment and procedures; Recordkeeping principals; Budgetary concepts; Mathematical concepts; Document review techniques; Filing systems; Computers and related software applications.  

SKILLS

Providing customer service; Monitoring and maintaining administrative budgets; Interpreting and applying applicable laws, rules, and regulations; Maintaining records and files; Processing information utilizing established procedures; Preparing correspondence, memos and/or other related information; Assembling and organizing data and information; Performing data entry; Using modern equipment; Using a computer and related software applications; Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. 

LEVEL OF DECISION-MAKING RESPONSIBILITY 

Responsibilities typically require adaptation of procedures, processes, tools, equipment and techniques to meet the specialized requirements of the position. 


DIRECTION RECEIVED / DIRECTION PROVIDED

Incumbents are provided with organizational strategy, goals, and objectives to oversee the assigned departments or functions.   Incumbents provide strategic direction for function(s), department(s), or other work area(s) policies, strategies, goals, and procedures.


MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

High School diploma or G.E.D. and 2 years of legal administrative experience.  


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of local government law preferred.  


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Positions in this class typically require reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.  Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sitting most of the time. Walking and standing are required only occasionally.

Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. (*7.5 hour work day – 1.0 hour lunch break)

Hiring Salary Range: $25.44 - $36.98 Hourly
