Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Immigration Legal Assistant to support our immigration law practice, focusing on the preparation and filing of various immigration applications with USCIS. This role primarily involves handling traditional family-based adjustment of status cases, as well as T-Visa and U-Visa adjustment of status applications, along with other immigration benefit requests.
Upon hire and with the support of the Firm's training department, the Immigration Legal Assistant will receive technical training on how to use the Firm’s case management software and how to prepare these applications for attorney review and finalization adhering to the Firm’s policies and procedures. The Immigration Legal Assistant will work closely with the attorneys’ team and other team members. A minimum of a one-year experience in adjustment of status applications is required for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Application Preparation: Assist in the preparation and finalization of adjustment of status applications, ensuring accuracy and completeness for attorney final review.
- Case Management: Utilize the Firm’s case management software for efficient handling of cases.
- Collaborative Support: Work closely with attorneys and other team members to ensure applications are thoroughly prepared and meet legal standards before attorney review and finalization.
Skills and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1 year of experience handling adjustment of status applications is required.
- Proven experience in a legal setting and references.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail to identify inaccuracies and discrepancies in legal documents.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to interact professionally with GFI Team members.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality.
- Proficiency in using Adobe PDF and case management system (Litify preferred).
