The Role
Clifford Chance US LLP is seeking a full time Continuing Legal Education ("CLE") Specialist. This role will serve as the Firm's internal CLE subject matter expert and act as a resource to our attorneys and clients. As part of the Professional Development team, this role will also work alongside the team to assist with lawyer-facing initiatives. This role can be located in either our New York, NY, Washington, DC, or Houston, TX offices and will report to the Head of Professional Development – Americas.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain strong knowledge of the New York State, and Texas CLE rules and regulations for both newly admitted and experienced attorneys; interpret where necessary.
- Advise and maintain the Firm's New York State, and Texas CLE accreditation processes for all internal and client CLE programs.
- Advise internal and external clients to ensure that training sessions meet New York State and Texas CLE requirements.
- Review reference materials and course agenda for each program to determine the category of credit and number of New York State and Texas CLE credit hours.
- Advise and support US attorneys (local & global) with their New York State and Texas CLE compliance status.
- Analyze attorneys' New York State, and Texas CLE compliance status and make necessary recommendations in accordance with respective CLE rules and regulations, for example, extension of time, recommend programs, etc.
- Serve as the main point of contact for the Firm's external New York State and Texas CLE providers: City Bar and Practising Law Institute ("PLI").
- Create and maintain records, reports, and files to ensure the Firm and attorneys remain in good standing with the New York State and Texas Bar for CLE purposes.
- Coordinate and prepare the submission of mandatory New York State CLE reports to maintain accredited provider status in New York, and Texas.
- Determine when to apply for MCLE applications outside of New York State.
- Oversee interface between Micron CE Manager and PLI.
- Review attendance sheets and affirmation forms to determine participants' number of credit hours based on length of attendance.
- Issue certificates of attendance to participants and instructors.
- Upload internal and external users to Micron CE Manager and post Firm-sponsored legal programs to the system.
- Review Micron CE Manager invoices, making adjustments as needed.
- Track the Bar admission status for incoming first year lawyers and notify the appropriate departments following a first year's admission to the Bar.
- Assist with the attorney review process.
- Assist with other Professional Development related initiatives.
Your experience
- Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a law firm; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Must have in-depth knowledge and understanding of New York and Texas CLE rules, regulations and compliance requirements; including reporting requirements as an approved provider in those jurisdictions.
- Prior experience working with CLE tracking system/database is a plus.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including strong proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
- Must possess excellent client service, organizational and problem-solving skills; strong attention to detail and accuracy,
- Ability to exercise discretion and maintain sensitive and confidential information while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
- Ability to interact and develop/maintain positive working relationships with colleagues at all levels.
- Ability to multi-task and adhere to timeframes in a deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team dynamic.
- Ability to work outside the core business hours as needed.
- Must be able to adhere and comply with the Firm's Agile Working Policy which requires employees to work from the office at least three days each calendar week.
- Must be independently legally authorized to work in the United States.
Clifford Chance US LLP offers a comprehensive benefits and compensation package. The salary range for this role is $110,000 - $125,000. Actual salary will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and relevant experience.
