The Harris County District Attorney's Office is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Administrative Assistant. Responsibilities will vary by Division or Section but generally include a range of administrative and clerical support tasks critical to the operations of the office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Answer and direct telephone calls in a professional manner
- Order case discovery via various portals and applications that are agency specific
- Managing tasks that need attention per case, assigned by the ADA in our digital system
- Act as a liaison between attorneys, courts, victims, witnesses, other departments/agencies, and the public
- Prepare and process legal documents and correspondence
- Coordinate the duplication, mailing, faxing, or delivery of legal communications as directed
- Compile and maintain statistical data for court/division records
- Perform additional related duties as assigned
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree
-OR-
- One of the following:
- Minimum of two (2) years of general office experience
- Two (2) years of experience with a criminal justice agency
- Sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited college or technical school in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or a closely related field
- Prior experience in a legal environment is preferred
Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m.
Hours may vary depending on departmental needs.
Salary (Starting):
- $22.08 hourly / $3,827.20 monthly / $45,926.40
- $27.18 hourly / $4,711.20 monthly /$56,534.40 w/ College Degree
