- DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will serve as a Deputy Agency Open Records Officer, responsible for determining whether to release requested materials in accordance with department policies, state and federal laws, and judicial rulings. You will work directly with district attorneys and U.S. attorneys to decide which, if any, documents should be released to defense counsel in response to subpoenas. Your responsibilities will include consulting with the Office of Chief Counsel and bureau directors to determine whether specialized documents, evidence, or procedures may be disclosed. Additional duties include processing RTK requests, maintaining detailed logs, calculating response deadlines, monitoring progress, and issuing both interim and final responses. You will conduct advanced legal reviews and analyses to evaluate the legality and scope of each request. You will also research information for RTK requests by coordinating with the assigned bureau and troop RTK coordinators, and you will be expected to attend court hearings and provide expert testimony regarding the actions taken.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Free parking is included with this position.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $45,907.00 (before taxes).

- REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Legal Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Four years of responsible clerical, investigative or enforcement work including one year of legal clerical support experience; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- You must obtain and maintain an active Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Police within the probationary period and maintain the same for the duration of employment in this job.
- You must be willing to work onsite full-time. Teleworking is not an option as part of this position's work schedule.
- You must have at least one year of customer service experience.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
