
Job Description
Williams Mullen is seeking a full-time, team-oriented non-exempt litigation paralegal with at least five years of experience in handling and managing litigation cases. Candidate must be proficient in document drafting and experienced in both State and Federal Court procedures and electronic filings. Trial preparation skills and experience needed.
- Provides strategic support on significant litigation matters, consulting with attorneys on special projects and assignments.
- Manages case deadlines, monitors filings, and ensures compliance with all legal and court procedures.
- Assists attorneys with electronic filing in federal and state courts.
- Conducts legal research and investigative work, including criminal and civil background checks.
- Drafts pleadings, collects and organizes documents, and manages discovery responses.
- Prepares and organizes electronic case files, exhibits, and trial binders.
- Coordinates communications with clients, government agencies, courts, and opposing counsel.
- Prepares and operates trial presentation software, ensuring seamless in-courtroom media delivery.
- Utilizes advanced e-discovery tools such as Relativity to manage and analyze large datasets.

Candidate Requirements:
- 5 years of litigation experience in trial support
- Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate
- Strong legal writing and research skills
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to exercise initiative in problem-solving and the ability to make sound decisions in absence of clear instructions
- Ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required to handle large volumes of work associated with each case and transaction
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Ability to travel and work extended hours for trial and trial preparations as needed.
Preferred skills:
- Knowledge of iManage/FileSite or comparable document sharing software
- Knowledge of JURAlaw web-based legal calendar management and WorkShare
- Trial preparation skills and experience
- Knowledge of Aderant or similar timekeeping and billing software
- Working knowledge of e-discovery products and procedures
- Ability to read and understand legal terminology
