
Job Description
The Franchising Paralegal provides essential legal and administrative support to the franchising team. This position plays a key role in preparing and maintaining franchise disclosure documents (FDDs), managing state registrations, supporting compliance, and assisting with various legal matters related to the franchise system. The franchise paralegal role requires high attention to detail, organization, and discretion in handling sensitive legal documents and communications.
Responsibilities include:
- Prepare and maintain up-to-date Franchise Disclosure Documents (FDDs).
- Oversees the annual renewal and registration process of the FDD in registration and filing states.
- Trademark management and assisting in infringement cases
- Manage annual filings and maintenance of entities for the company
- Maintain a calendar of critical deadlines.
- Coordinate with outside counsel on legal filings, registration status, intellectual property, and responses to regulatory inquiries.
- Draft, revise, and manage franchise agreements, amendments, extensions, and termination documents.
- Verify franchisee entity formation, maintain accurate ownership records, and ensure the correct legal structure is reflected throughout the FDD.
- Assist with franchise transactions (such as sales, renewals, transfers, and terminations).
- Serve as a resource for internal teams and franchisees regarding legal procedures and documentation.
- Support internal teams with contract management, compliance tracking, and special projects.
- Organize and maintain legal files, correspondence, and internal databases related to franchise transactions.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with the Google Suite of products (Drive, Sheets, Docs)
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines.
