- Offer legal advice on a wide range of issues, including academic affairs, student matters, employment matters, and institutional policies
- Assist and oversee implementation in compliance projects and regulatory matters, including without limitation Title IV, Title VI, and Title IX
- Collaborate with external counsel when necessary; refine and implement outside counsel processes
- Lead and manage legal projects from inception to completion, demonstrating innovation and efficiency in solving legal issues and improving institutional processes.
- Conduct legal research and author related communications on complex legal issues
- Oversee policy development and implementation, contributing to efficient and technology-forward solutions
- Draft and review legal documents and contracts, in collaboration with other team members
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active bar membership; ability to become licensed in Missouri within 1 year from the date of hire
- 6+ years of legal experience, preferably in higher education
- Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations governing higher education
- Excellent analytical, writing, and oral communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Demonstrated innovative approach to legal problem-solving
- Adaptability and excitement to learn and develop as a professional
- Demonstrated commitment to the highest standards of professional ethics
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Periodic travel required
