Job Description
About the Position: This position is located at U.S. Army Recruiting Command, Direct Reporting Unit, Fort Knox, Kentucky. If you are currently serving in a permanent, competitive service appointment in the Federal service, and are selected for this position, the appointment will remove you from the competitive service while you occupy this position.
Duties- Incumbent acts as Attorney-Advisor for Direct Reporting Unit, USAREC, located on Fort Knox on issues including administrative law, environmental law, labor relations, FOIA, equal opportunity and equal employment opportunity laws and regulations.
- Prepares decision papers on varying legal issues for issuance to organizations outside of this office.
- Reviews overall content, format, response to problem presented, and adequacy of the recommended solution where indicated.
- Provides advice, written and/or oral decisions or recommendations as to action recommended or required on varied legal matters.
- Reviews developments in law (new decisions, rulings, etc., by courts and governmental organizations) for impact on recruiting operations and personnel; implements staff action to inform commands and staff activities affected.
- Performs various assignments that require extensive research analysis and judgment to interpret new legislation that may conflict with existing Army and USAREC regulations.
- Advises the commander, principal staff and subordinate commanders and staff on fiscal law issues that impact the organizations, personnel and activities.
- Serves as the principal ethics counselor within the Direct Reporting Unit, USAREC.
- Advises commanders concerning appropriate administrative and military justice responses to misconduct within the command.
