Join Our Team
You will serve as our Legal Counsel – P&L Support and be a key member of our Legal, Regulatory and Compliance team. You will be responsible for providing day to day legal and regulatory support for our P&L leaders and their respective business development and underwriting teams in North America. You will join us at an exciting time as we are growing and investing in our infrastructure to support our business growth. You will report to our Associate General Counsel, Head of P&L Support.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Working closely with the underwriting teams and business unit attorneys, you will review and/or prepare reinsurance contracts and insurance policy wordings.
- Working with brokers and underwriters to draft and manage market terms and differences in conditions for ceded reinsurance contracts and Interests and Liability Agreements.
- Advising and assisting with contract review, and drafting, including but not limited to, program administrator, broker/producer, third-party administrator, and license agreements.
- Working with the Compliance Team, identify and analyse legal issues, and provide advice, counsel, and trainings on insurance and regulatory matters.
- Advising on product-related support, such as policy or manuscript language, and rate and product filings. Advise and assist with the preparation and approval of marketing and advertising programs.
- Identifying coverage issues and potential litigation risk and coordinating with the in-house Litigation Team on such matters.
- Staying abreast of legal and regulatory developments affecting SiriusPoint’s products and operations, including conducting legal research and preparing memoranda regarding legislative developments.
- Drafting and reviewing a variety of agreements including commutations, novations, trusts, and confidentiality agreements, as needed.
- Handling special projects, as needed.

Your Skills and Abilities Should Include:
- Entrepreneurial Spirit
- Substantive contract drafting background (insurance and reinsurance contracting background preferred).
- Experience as regulatory, claims or coverage counsel (in house or external) with 5+ years of experience involving insurance and/or reinsurance matters.
- Trial or dispute resolution experience is desirable.
- Nimble with Thompson Reuters/Westlaw suite of research tools.
- Must be a member, in good standing, of the New York Bar (preferred) and/or any US State.
- Flexibility with ability to prioritize and multi-task. Strong execution focus. Willingness to roll up your sleeves to get things done.
- Exceptional and intentional collaborator. Able to operate and excel at both strategic and tactical levels.
- The ability to engage with and build trusted relationships with key stakeholders. Able to bring people together.
SALARY: The estimated salary range for this position is $152,000 to $200,000 per year. This is a good-faith assessment of the salary range for this position only. In determining the actual salary, SiriusPoint will consider a candidate’s relevant experience, location, and other job-related factors.
