The Gilchrist Law Firm is looking for 5 dedicated and experienced paralegals capable of supporting the National Security Division (duties to vary depending on needs of the NSD sections). The mission of the National Security Division is to protect the United States from threats to our national security by pursuing justice through the law. The NSD's organizational structure is designed to ensure greater coordination and unity of purpose between prosecutors and law enforcement agencies, on the one hand, and intelligence attorneys and the Intelligence Community, on the other, thus strengthening the effectiveness of the federal government's national security efforts. The Division proactively protects national assets by assessing, mitigating, and preventing national security and law enforcement risks before they materialize.
NSD is comprised of several sections performing a range of investigative, prosecutorial, review, compliance, mitigation, policy, and oversight work, including the Counterintelligence and Export Control Section, Foreign Investment Review Section, National Security Cyber Section, Counterterrorism Section, Office of Intelligence, and Office of Law and Policy.
Duties:
- Serve as the primary custodian of case materials, managing case files, including correspondence, pleadings, witness files, and subject matter files.
- Organize evidence, conduct searches, and access/review case data using eLitigation and data management software.
- Track and manage the flow of documents and investigative materials related to discovery, incoming productions, subpoena and search warrant returns, translations, and reviews.
- Monitor public inboxes and interagency data repositories, pull case information, and save to NSD case management systems.
- Liaise with NSD’s Litigation Support Services and data management professionals for document organization and transfer.
- Assist with grand jury coordination and conduct internet and open-source research.
- Perform document review in NSD case management systems and eDiscovery platforms.
- Assist with trial preparations, including organizing exhibits, attachments, binders, and tables of contents.
- Provide in-court support, operating trial software, managing witnesses, and performing administrative tasks.
- Assist with research, writing, and related tasks as directed by NSD attorneys.
- Create first drafts of documents such as memos, subpoenas, and discovery cover letters.
- Conduct cite-checking for case and court filings, proofread, and format complex legal documents.
- Prepare draft compliance and enforcement documents, pre-inspection documentation, and legal action memoranda.
- Four-year bachelor’s degree required. Recent graduates are preferred.
- Related experience working with a federal or state legal entity.
- Highly organized candidates with excellent attention to detail, technological savvy, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work well in teams.
- Paralegal Certificate is not required. Experience can be substituted for certification.
- Proficient in eLitigation, data management software, and eDiscovery platforms such as Relativity and Everlaw.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.

- Technologically savvy with the ability to adapt to new software/tools.
- Effective communication and collaboration within a team setting.
