
Freese and Nichols is seeking a Legal Assistant to join our team in Fort Worth, Dallas, or Houston TX. As a Legal Assistant, you will prepare reports, correspondence, and legal documents such as contracts, memorandums, case summaries, claims filings, briefs, complaints, and motions using knowledge of legal terminology and formats. You will also manage stakeholder work groups and committees, including agendas, presentations, action items, and meeting minutes.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Support the organization’s legal strategy by handling routine tasks, tracking inquiries, and assisting with matters in construction, contracts, procurement, compliance, and administrative law.
- Support in developing relationships with leaders and track communications to ensure internal clients receive timely, high-quality guidance.
- Support the organization's litigation and claims management by maintaining the tracking system, coordinating communications, and liaising with liability insurance carriers.
- Support the Project Risk Management Committee by assisting with meetings, preparing agendas, and tracking action items with senior leaders.
- Support business compliance across states and territories by maintaining registrations and licenses and coordinating with Accounting and other departments as needed.
- Support efforts to procure appropriate insurance coverages to protect them organization from professional liability claims and exposures.
- Support subject matter experts in litigation, claims, law, policy, and compliance; stay current on regulations and best practices through professional development; and provide training to others in designated areas.
- Provide administrative support to supervisors and teams by managing logistics, coordinating stakeholder groups, and maintaining documents, databases, and departmental systems.
- Review moderately complex documents with office and legal software, summarize data for reports, and support document workflow and legal drafting standards.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Paralegal/legal assistant school, or equivalent work experience
- 3+ years of relevant experience, with the ability to handle most situations independently and advise others
Preferred Qualifications:
- Paralegal/legal assistant/legal secretary or court clerk experience highly preferred
