
Summary:
The Orlando office of Dean Mead is seeking a Litigation Associate with 2-4 years’ experience in commercial litigation or insurance defense to join our firm.
This position will be involved in helping our shareholders work a litigation matter through pleadings, discovery, mediation, and trial. Litigation may be related to contracts, torts, construction, trusts and estates, employment, real estate, businesses, intellectual property, non-competes, or other civil disputes. We do not handle family law, divorce law, criminal law, or insurance defense, but having handled insurance defense provides excellent experience for the job. This is a very busy practice, so time management is important.
Candidates must possess excellent drafting and analytical skills and have a strong academic record. This is a busy practice, so time management is important. Candidates will be asked to provide law school transcripts and a writing sample as part of the interview process.

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Conduct in-depth legal research to support case preparation and provide insightful analysis of relevant laws, regulations, and precedents.
- Assist in the management of commercial litigation cases from inception to resolution. This includes drafting pleadings, motions, and legal documents, as well as maintaining accurate case records.
- Collaborate with clients, provide legal counsel, and maintain strong client relationships by ensuring clear communication and updates on case developments.
- Appear in court to represent clients during hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings.
- Oversee the discovery process, including document review, deposition preparation, and coordination with external parties.

Required Education and Experience:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in the state of Florida.
- Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a legal team.
- High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Work Environment:
- Hybrid work arrangements will be considered after a successful onboarding period of at least 90 days.
