As our small but growing team of 28 continues to expand, we are seeking a skilled professional with knowledge of court rules, legal terminology, courtroom procedures, and file/database management to support the day-to-day operations of Recorder's Court.
As a Deputy Court Clerk, you will perform complex, detailed case management functions for all cases filed in Recorder's Court.

- Prepare dockets for traffic hearings, trials, misdemeanor and felony criminal cases for court.
- Enters traffic citations and criminal cases for court.
- Runs traffic histories via the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC).
- Performs various customer service functions, answers telephone, directs all incoming calls to appropriate party promptly and efficiently, responds to inquiries from the public, City Officials or other City departments.
- Performs a variety of Internet research functions and uses word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software; produces documents and correspondence, which requires advanced word processing skills.
- Prepares documents, records, reports, and forms requiring knowledge of programs, policies, ordinances, codes, and procedures. Research, compile, consolidate, and/or tabulate information; incorporates information into requested reports and other prepared materials; proofreads for accuracy and completeness; and distributes upon approval.
- Enters information into department programs and databases; updates database information; creates new spreadsheets/files; and purges old data as appropriate. Researches information from databases and incorporates into other assignments.
- Prepares folders; maintains files of departmental correspondence, program records, legal documents, etc. Photocopies documents and distributes and/or files; and requests information from other departments as necessary to complete department files or records assigned.
- Types clearance letters or court corrections and fax to the Department of Driver Services.
- Completes court committals and necessary court documents, drafts and respond to correspondence.
- Assist cashiers with issuing new court dates or discrepancies, providing assistance with closing reports that do not balance, and deposits.
- Prepare the court room for a docket, call dockets in court, present case files to the judge, and swear in officers along with witnesses before testimony.
- Sends failure to appear release letters to the DMV to correct or clear a defendant's license.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree plus two years of judicial case management experience, to include handling documents and dealing with customers in a criminal justice and/or court related setting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in a court room setting speaking in front of large groups preferred.
Work Location: 133 Montgomery St Work Hours: 8 am - 5 pm, Monday - Friday
