Job Summary:
This position provides entry/intermediate level procedural legal support to the prosecutors of the District Attorney’s office, requiring routine legal forms, litigation documents, reports and/or other specialized legal office support.
Essential Functions:
This is not an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, duties or functions associated with the job.- Perform routine legal office clerical support and technical assistance for trial preparation and sentencing including setting up, prioritizing, monitoring and tracking court cases, discovery demands, projects, programs, and advising deputy district attorney, supervisor, or other assigned professional of required actions.
- Prepares and provides discovery of potentially graphic and sensitive documents to defense counsel and deputy district attorney; duplicates audio, video, photographic and other evidence; processes digital media for disclosure.
- Type a variety of letters, forms, memos, and other legal documents from verbal, transcribed and/or written instructions; take dictation or transcribe from electronic records or tapes; draft basic legal documents in accordance with court rules and procedures for review by attorney or other professional, verifying and correcting grammar, format, and composition as required.
- Review accuracy and completeness of routine forms, records, entries, indictments, complaints, , orders, , , and other incoming legal documents by compiling information from various sources (i.e., other state courts, motor vehicle departments, law enforcement agencies), organizing documents, and researching discrepancies when needed.
- Enter information into various computer databases for internal and external records and reports. Perform court-ordered expunction of records.
- Review calendaring to remain within time limits; process and file completed documents with appropriate court; prepare and issue new cases for grand jury; prepare subpoenas and notify individuals as needed.
- Respond to incoming telephone calls and in-person inquiries from various sources, including victims, witnesses, general public, police and probation officers and other court staff; applying knowledge of departmental regulations and procedures when answering public inquiries and providing information.
- Receive, receipt, and record payments or other revenue received in department
- Maintain trial calendar, docket and/or other related tickler system calendars, spreadsheets, and/or tracking/notification system to eliminate missed deadlines (examples include: case progress, statutory time limitations, discovery due dates, and public records deadlines); schedule and confirm appointments, including but not limited to, interviews, meetings, appointments, supervisions, , conferences, , expert witnesses, , etc.
- POSITION REQUIREMENTS
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Any equivalent combination of education and experience, which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities required, will be considered. however, the following is preferred:- Three years clerical experience of a progressively responsible nature, two years of which in a public or private law office is preferred.
Required- At time of appointment, must possess valid Oregon Drivers License
- Regular and consistent attendance
- Notary Public licensure.
- SCREENING & EVALUATION
- Background Investigation: While not part of initial applicant screening, the finalist for thisposition may be required to pass a criminal history background check as part of acontingent offer of employment. Conviction of a crime may not necessarily disqualify an individual from employment. Successful candidates for this position must also pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check. The CJIS Clearance is done within the first 30 days of employment and is processed at no expense to the applicant/employee.Drug Screen: Employment is contingent upon a pre-employment drug screen. Presence of nonprescribed drugs, including marijuana, on drug screen results will result in disqualification pursuant to the County's drug and alcohol policy.Position requires a minimal amount of driving.
