Job Description

The Suffolk County Attorney’s Office is searching for attorneys to handle legal issues relating to the operation of County government in the Family Court and Social Services Bureau.

  • The attorneys will appear in Family Court, Supreme Court and Surrogate’s Court and handle serious and complex cases involving guardianships, adult protective services matters, trust and estates, and Medicaid recovery actions.

  • Successful candidates should have demonstrated interest in civil litigation and have strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Attorneys must possess excellent judgment, exceptional organizational abilities, strong leadership skills and strong interpersonal skills.

  • Must be able to work collaboratively with County Attorney staff, other attorneys, Court staff and the Suffolk County Department of Social Services in a fast paced and demanding environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Admitted to the New York State Bar

  • Possess experience in or background in civil litigation.

  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience is preferred.

  • Knowledge of Mental Hygiene Law and Trust and Estates Law would be a plus.

Salary Range: $80,000 to $120,000

** Compensation is commensurate with experience

Schedule: Monday to Friday 9:00 am – 5:30 pm

This position will involve some travel to Riverhead
