The Senior Counsel, Investigations (U.S.) will be responsible for conducting and managing a wide range of internal investigations, responses to government inquiries, defense of government investigations, and conducting anti-corruption due diligence on M&A targets.  Based onsite in Washington, DC, the geographic scope for this role will be global initially with the expectation for a APAC investigations lead to join the team and own such remit. This role requires an agile and experienced investigations attorney with prior relevant experience in a major law firm as well as government and/or inhouse experience at a public company in a regulated industry (e.g., healthcare, life sciences).  

This role will report to Danaher’s VP, Chief Counsel Global Litigation and Investigations, and requires active, hands-on handling of an array of investigation matters in collaboration and partnership with lawyers and business leaders across all of Danaher’s businesses.

Core Responsibilities

  • Conduct, manage, and assist on domestic and cross-border internal investigations to include alleged misconduct, violations of law, or other matters that may present legal and compliance risk to Danaher.

  • Assist in responding to or defending government inquiries and investigations, ensuring alignment with Danaher’s legal and compliance objectives.

  • Manage anti-corruption due diligence on M&A transactions globally; proactively identify and solve complex problems to countermeasure identified risks; support integration planning and implementation activities.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on investigations and provide support for compliance investigations conducted elsewhere in the organization.

  • Develop and implement standard work and enhance Danaher’s process for investigations, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with best practices.

  • Drive to root cause, develop appropriate remediation plans and countermeasures, assess risks, collaborate with compliance team to develop policy and program enhancements to address risk, and communicate lessons learned.

  • Provide regular reporting on investigations and risk matters to senior leadership, ensuring transparency and informed decision-making.

  • Stay abreast of relevant global legal and compliance developments; proactively communicate pertinent and value-added information to the Danaher global organization to promote learning, continuous improvement, and competitive advantage.

Education and/or Experience:

  • J.D. from a respected law school

  • Minimum 12 years of practicing law

  • Experience working on significant white collar and internal investigations matters in a complex, global, and regulated environment (e.g., pharma, healthcare/medical devices, or life sciences)

  • Experience in a major law firm; prior relevant government experience and/or prior public company experience are a plus

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

  • Ability to travel 30% domestically/internationally per business needs

The salary range for this role is $270,000 - $290,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
