Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Paralegal with specialized experience in real estate development, construction, architectural, and consultant contract and litigation matters to join our dynamic development / legal team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in providing comprehensive litigation support, overseeing sophisticated document control processes, and maintaining meticulous file management systems. This position requires a proactive professional capable of managing complex legal and project-related tasks in a fast-paced environment, with a strong emphasis on real estate development, construction disputes, and contractual agreements involving architects, consultants and contractors. If you thrive on organization, precision, and collaboration, this is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to highly successful company that develops high-profile mixed-use projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support real estate development initiatives by conducting due diligence, preparing transaction documents, and coordinating with stakeholders on zoning, permitting, and land use matters.
  • Collaborate closely with attorneys, project managers, architects, consultants, and external counsel to meet critical deadlines and resolve complex issues efficiently.
  • Maintain and enhance comprehensive file management systems for real estate development projects, litigation cases, and contractual records, ensuring seamless retrieval and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Oversee document control processes, ensuring the accuracy, accessibility, and integrity of legal documents, architectural plans, construction contracts, and consultant agreements.
  • Provide robust litigation support for attorneys by drafting and reviewing pleadings, motions, discovery documents, subpoenas, and correspondence related to real estate acquisition, design and construction, along with supporting contract disputes.
  • Provide specialized assistance with construction-related legal matters, including reviewing and drafting contracts, change orders, and lien documentation tied to development projects.
  • Manage and analyze architectural and consultant contracts, ensuring terms align with project goals, timelines, and legal requirements.
  • Conduct thorough research on real estate regulations, construction law, and industry standards to support case strategies and project execution.
  • Track project milestones, litigation timelines, and contractual obligations to ensure proactive management of all assigned matters.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience as a paralegal, with a proven track record in real estate development, construction law, and architectural/consultant contract management.
  • In-depth knowledge of litigation support processes, including e-discovery tools, trial preparation, and case management software.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with demonstrated expertise in document control and file management for multifaceted legal and development projects.
  • Strong understanding of real estate transactions, construction disputes, architectural agreements, and consultant contracts, including relevant legal and regulatory frameworks.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) and document management systems (e.g., SharePoint).
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex information for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize competing demands, and thrive under pressure in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Paralegal certification from an accredited program strongly preferred; bachelor’s degree in a related field is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in a law firm or in-house legal department focused on real estate and construction.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific software (e.g., AutoCAD for architectural plans, Procore for construction management) is an advantage.
