Client Litigation Manager | General Liability/Bodily Injury | Remote Opportunity

PRIMARY PURPOSE: To address cases involving a legal inquiry or dispute when cases are high value and/or may result in media exposure to the client; and to develop a strategy to bring a case to satisfactory resolution.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works closely with client(s); keeps client(s) informed of anticipated exposure.

  • Handles public relations as it may relate to media interest in specific cases.

  • Reviews/acts on reports/forms; responds to inquiries; seeks legal opinion and early resolution; and communicates resolution to appropriate parties. Concentrates on high exposure clams ($300,000+) and claims of a sensitive nature (i.e. potential media exposure).

  • Responds to decisions, agreement, and/or court order; creates action plan; determines need for examination; gains client authorization.

  • Identifies cases for settlements/redemptions.

  • Gathers/documents additional information and coordinates with client designees.

  • Requests legal/private investigation; assigns to and coordinates with local counsel; monitors local counsel performance.

  • Responds to plaintiff's counsel, union, employee, or client requests.

  • Identifies issues; formulates defense strategy.

  • Establishes/adjusts accrued liability.

  • Approves administrative expenses.

  • Identifies subrogation opportunities and manages process.

  • Attends mediations or hearings as needed.

  • Works with partners to affect early return-to-work.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Supports the organization's quality program(s).

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Licensing
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Legal courses preferred.

Experience
Eight (8) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required to include five (5) years of claims management experience and three (3) years of litigation claims management. Legal experience preferred.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Thorough knowledge of claims management processes and procedures

  • Excellent oral and written communication, including presentation skills

  • PC literate, including Microsoft Office products

  • Analytical and interpretive skills

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Excellent negotiation skills

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies

As required by law, Sedgwick provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in jurisdictions requiring pay transparency in job postings. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and cost of specific location. For the jurisdiction noted in this job posting only, the range of starting pay for this role is ($90,000-$110,000)(bonus eligibility, if applicable). A comprehensive benefits package is offered including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, 401k and matching, PTO, disability and life insurance, employee assistance, flexible spending or health savings account, and other additional voluntary benefits.
