Assistant Vice President in Labor and Employment Job Posting
AT&T is seeking a skilled and experienced labor and employment lawyer to join our expert legal team in Dallas, Texas. This lawyer will advise on the day-to-day labor and employment matters for a complex, highly regulated company with more than 120,000 U.S. employees, nearly half of whom are union-represented.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as an expert on a wide range of labor and employment matters, including:
- Advising on personnel and disciplinary matters
- Handling federal and state agency matters (e.g., EEOC, DOL)
- Advising on labor contract interpretations, contract negotiations, contract application and compliance, and grievances
- Defending labor arbitrations and overseeing labor-related litigation
Act as a trusted advisor to internal clients who routinely seek strategic input for unique solutions beyond a traditional legal focus to achieve desired business outcomes.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience advising on management-side labor and employment matters with outstanding communication skills, strong analytic abilities, and practical solutions.
- A track record of proactively handling complex and varied legal matters in a fast-paced environment with a demonstrated ability to prioritize to deliver quality work-product.
- The ability to work collaboratively with all internal stakeholders and legal department colleagues.
- Working knowledge of federal and state labor and employment laws with a passion for continuous learning to spot evolving trends and proactively address potential legal implications for the company.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in good standing with the state bar.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical standards.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in labor and employment law, preferably with some in-house counsel experience.
